My name is Lori Banky and I am the 8th Grade Learning Support Teacher at Trinity Middle School. I am originally from Pittsburgh and attended the University of Cincinnati where I majored in middle childhood education and played division 1 lacrosse. When I returned to Pittsburgh, I became a graduate assistant for the Robert Morris Women's Lacrosse team while getting my master's in special education. Prior to being hired at Trinity, I was a 6th grade learning support teacher at Burgettstown Middle/High School. In my free time I enjoy coaching lacrosse, hiking, skiing, riding my bike, and playing with my puppy.
This year, I will be teaching LANGUAGE! 7, LANGUAGE 8, and Environmental Literacy. I will also be co-teaching Pre-Algebra 8 and Science 8.
LANGUAGE: LANGUAGE! is a comprehensive literacy curriculum that provides effective, explicit, sequential, and systematic instruction for struggling readers, writers, speakers, and speller.
ENVIRONMENTAL LITERACY: Students will explore environmental topics including soil, conservation, water quality, ecology, and agriculture. Students gain an understanding of these topics using hands on activities and hands on projects throughout the year.
