Welcome to 7th Grade Science

"EVERYONE LEARNS, JUST NOT ON THE SAME DAY OR IN THE SAME WAY!"

Seventh grade is a big deal. It is the beginning of an exciting period of physical, emotional, and intellectual growth and increased responsibility. Seventh grade science is traditionally life science. Our science course will touch on the following aspects: inquiry, living things, cells and cell processes, heredity and genetics, change over time, ecology, and pest management. It is a mix of hard work and cool (maybe even fun) science stuff. By June, your child will be ready for the challenges of 8th grade.

Students will need a 1 1/2 - 2" 3-ring binder for science only. Students will also need a highlighter and colored pencils are helpful but not necessary, as I will have them at school. Students may need them at home to complete some assignments.

In the past 23 years, I have found that 7th grade science is very difficult for students because of the large number of new vocabulary words that students will be learning and be expected to use. It is imperative that students keep up on their vocabulary words and definitions.

Homework is assigned on as as needed basis. Unless otherwise specified, it is due the following day. Most often there will be time to get started on it in class. By doing this, the students can ask questions if they do not understand.

You can always email me for more information, sspadaro@trinityhillers.net  If you email me, PLEASE include your student's name in the subject line so you don't end up in SPAM!

I hope we have a great year,

Ms. Spadaro
