Mrs. Judkins received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Baldwin Wallace College (Berea, Ohio) in 1982 as a vocal major with a minor in piano. While at B-W, Judkins was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honorary society. She has completed post-graduate work at Duquesne University and has taken specialized courses in Vocal Pedagogy, Dalcroze-Eurhythmics, Orff-Schulwerk, and Music Technology. Additionally, she has received Level I Orff-Schulwerk Certification.
Her previous teaching experience includes the North Forest Independent School District in Houston, Texas, the Dickinson Independent School District in Dickinson, Texas, the Mt. Lebanon School District and private vocal and piano instruction. While with the North Forest Independent School District she was Teacher of the Year. Most recently she was a 2018 Trinity School District Teacher of the Year Nominee and a top 10 finalist for Give A Note Foundation's 2019 Music Education Innovator Award. She has been with the Trinity Area School District since 1991 and has had the privilege of teaching in all four of the elementary buildings. In her 36 years of teaching, she has had the opportunity to teach Elementary General Music, Elementary Chorus, and has even taught Elementary Art and Drama.
Mrs. Judkins is originally from Bethel Park but currently resides in South Park with her husband. She has two daughters Sydney-28 and Hannah-25. For years she was actively involved as a soccer mom. She was the South Park Lady Eagles Soccer President for four years from 2007-2011 and also served on the South Park Soccer Alumni Association Board. In addition to teaching and soccer, Mrs. Judkins enjoys photography, scrapbooking, quilting, and reading. She is a member of the Bethel Park Historical Society. She is also an active member in the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the National Education Association and currently is the acting President of the Trinity Area Education Association.
Her most rewarding teaching experiences occur when students make a personal connection to something they have learned in class. It is her lifelong goal to provide opportunities for students to experience all aspects of music and to develop fundamental knowledge that can help to make music an integral part of their lives.
