Welcome to the 2019/2020 School Year
We are going to have an amazing year in reading and social studies. I want to welcome your child to the 4th grade team. I want to make reading interesting and fun. This year we will be reading novels, plays, poetry, literature, and informational texts. Students will work in whole class setting, small groups, and one on one with me. Throughout the year there will be various assessments, performance tasks, and hands-on learning. There will be extra time in most days for enrichment and intervention. We will be using computers, chromebooks and videos, maps and charts to help enhance learning. Students will also be creating an interactive notebook for reading, and I will be preparing them for the PSSAS in April, including developing their reading and writing skills for a Text dependent analysis.
Most of the social studies content will be integrated into reading, but I will also be teaching map skills and US and PA geography and history and resources throughout much of our enrichment and intervention blocks. I have a passion for both reading and social studies, so I will be looking forward to a solid year in these subjects. Feel free to contact me through email, phone, or Remind app (Paper went home first day of school). I look forward to working with your child this year let us work together to make it a fantastic year.
