Herr Good begins his journey into Hiller Nation, offering his knowledge of German.
It is very rare when a person can learn a language fluently, let alone teach one to younger children. Yet, Herr Good has proven that both can be done – and done well. Good has been teaching English and German for over 20 years in the Pittsburgh area and has found his way into the Hiller lifestyle for the 2019-2020 school year.
Good studied English and German at the Pitt campus in Greensburg and California State University in Long Beach. Teaching was always the path he knew he was going to take in life, and Good was glad that he had the opportunity to pursue this career. Good decided to teach German because it enriched his life and he wanted other people to feel the same way. Good also was a substitute, taking on various year-long positions.
Good was looking for a school to teach at and found a position at Trinity available for the new school year. Throughout his life, Good had family members who were teachers which influenced his decision to join the working field. He used to teach English but wanted to add excitement into his life, so Good made the transition from teaching English to German.
Good stated, “I started studying German out of curiosity, and it just grew into sharing and teaching.”
From the moment Good walked into Trinity, he immediately felt at home. Good would like to share his enthusiasm with the kids of Trinity who want to learn a new language through the German I and II courses.
Good is also a part of the German Club with Herr McLaughlin. The German Club, which has been at Trinity for many years, promotes German culture and offers the chance to speak German and improve conversational skills. Signing up is as easy as going to any of the German teachers and informing them of an interest in joining. The Club meets every other Tuesday in Herr McLaughlin’s homeroom. The remind code can be found on Herr McLaughlin’s German Cafe website under the “Clubs” tab.
As Good adapts to being a part of #HillerNation, feel free to stop by, say guten Tag, und willkommen zu Trinity!
