School Counselor Appointment Scheduling

With new safety protocols in place, you will need to schedule a meeting with your school counselor before you report to the School Counseling Office. To schedule an appointment, please visit the calendar page of your School Counseling Canvas Course.  Please click on the appropriate school counselor's name to schedule an appointment for the time you would like to meet.  Once an appointment is taken, it will not show as an option for you.  For example, if you want to meet with your school counselor, Mrs. Amaismeier, at 8:00 AM on a certain day, and you only see appointments at 8:00 AM for Mr. Poletti and Ms. Burns, then you need to pick a different time or a different day to schedule with Mrs. Amaismeier. If you schedule with the wrong school counselor, you will need to reschedule for another time, so please make sure to only click on your school counselor's name. When it is time for your appointment, please show your teacher your appointment time and report to the School Counseling Office. You will NOT be called to the office for your appointment. If you are at home on the day of your appointment, please call your school counselor during your scheduled appointment time. The phone number for the high school is 724-225-5380, and each school counselor's extension is listed below. We are trying to limit the number of students in the office at a time to ensure the safety of everyone. However, if you are in crisis, please have your teacher contact Mrs. Franz at extension 6515, and she will notify your counselor.

Ms. Tia Burns - Students with Last Names A-G extension 6512

A Message from the High School Counselors Regarding COVID-19

We understand the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, and although there are many unknown factors during this time, we encourage students and families to follow the wisdom of Mr. Fred Rogers.

Mr. Rogers often told this story about when he was a boy and would see scary things on the news: “My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”

Currently, there are many unknowns that can be unsettling for high school students. However, there are also many “helpers” working to ensure your future plans continue and the health and well being of all are being considered. We will keep you apprised as we receive information regarding testing (Keystone, AP, and SAT/ACT) as well as graduation activities. Please consistently check your school email accounts, the Counseling Department’s website, and the Counseling Twitter page (@hillerguidance) for updates regarding academics and future planning.  For information on the COVID-19 Outbreak, we encourage students to utilize the links found in the document titled, COVID-19 Resources, which can be found under the Forms section.

Please continue to keep yourself and others safe by following the guidelines put forth by the CDC. The health and safety of the students, families, and community are of paramount importance! All other details will be worked out with time.

If you or your student are feeling extremely overwhelmed and in need of additional support during this time or during any time of crisis, we encourage you to contact the Washington County Crisis Line.
