Welcome to Mrs. Helinski's teacher page!
My name is Katie Helinski and I joined the Trinity Area School District team in 2017 in the Music Department at the Middle School! I got married to my best friend and amazing husband in 2018 and we had our daughter, Sophie, in January of 2020. I graduated summa cum laude from the Pennsylvania State University Schreyer Honors College with degrees in both PK-12 music education and vocal performance, as well as further graduate studies in musicology. I originally fell in love with music through performance, starting with piano at age four and singing in my church choir at age six. My first professional experiences were singing with the Philadelphia Orchestra in Berlioz's La damnation de Faust, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. While at Penn State, I was an active performer in Penn State's Opera Theatre and in the Pennsylvania State University Concert Choir, where I had the opportunity to make my Pittsburgh debut performing with The Rolling Stones at their concert at Heinz Field. My experiences have allowed me to perform extensively in the United States and overseas. I have had the opportunity to travel to six out of seven continents, and am hoping to one day make it to Antarctica. I love to travel, I love dogs, crafts, running, competitive gymnastics, and community service. I am truly looking forward to an another amazing year with Trinity Middle School's talented, unique, and inspiring young musicians!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
"In these days of political, personal, and economic disintigration, music is not a luxury, it's a necessity; not simply because it is theraputic, nor because it is the universal language, but because it is the consistent focus of our intelligence, aspiration, and good will."- Robert Shaw
