All homework and books read in class will be posted on Canvas.  I strongly encourage students to read and reread these books to become better readers.

In Class:  I will be using the Leveled Literacy Intervention curriculum by Fountas and Pinnell to deliver fast-paced reading instruction to small groups of students in grades K-2.  We will be reading a variety of text genres and styles of books. Students will be learning decoding strategies and phonics skills, reading fiction and nonfiction text, using comprehension strategies to express understanding, responding to text through discussion, and completing homework assignments that support our small group learning. Each lesson will focus on phonics, fluency, comprehension, and writing.  My goal is teach and guide students in becoming independent readers and problem-solvers through text.  

At Home:  Students are asked to reread books that are posted on Canvas.  There are also two discussion questions, at the end of the book, that will help your child to understand what they read.  This will help your child become a better reader by building fluency and confidence.
