Dear Parents and Guardians:
Where has summer gone? Can you believe it is time to get back into that school routine again? I hope you have had a wonderful summer! Welcome back and welcome to fourth grade! My name is Mrs. Julie McGarrity and I will be one of your child’s fourth grade teachers. In fourth grade, we continue to switch classes and most students quickly adapt to that routine again. I will be teaching your child math and language arts. Your child will have Mrs. Parks for reading and social studies. Here is what our day looks like…
8:25-8:50 Morning work/homework check-in
8:50 – 9:30 Math
10:50-12:00 Writing/Science with Mrs. Parks
12:00 – 1:00 Lunch/Recess
1:05 – 2:30 Reading/Social Studies with Mrs. Ranieri
2:35-3:10 Spelling and Language Practice/Flex
3:20 Dismissal begins
Specials *Every special is from 9:30-10:10 daily.
In order to ensure an orderly classroom that allows teaching and learning, it is important that our rules are followed daily. Since I like to work toward positive goals, there will be incentives for those that follow rules and consequences for those that do not.
In addition to our classroom rules, there are hallway rules, cafeteria rules, and playground rules that have also been discussed with your child. Of course, rules are vital to your child’s safety and success here at Trinity South Elementary, so please remind them of that, too!
Your child has received all of the necessary materials to help keep them organized and prepared for class. The more organized and orderly our day goes, the more successful we can all be at our jobs as teachers and students. Please encourage them to maintain their organization! Each student is required to use the agenda planner that has been given to them. We will write spelling words in it each week and homework in it each day. Your child should be using it in the evenings to ensure they have completed all of their homework. Also, please initial each night after your child has completed their homework.
Let’s encourage these young, vibrant minds to always try their best and make the most of every minute that they can! Remember, we are partners in your child’s success and future. I look forward to working with your child, as well as helping them to have a very productive year! As always, thank you for your support!
